Yuck

I saw a video of a baby being born last night.

I didn't want kids before and now I'm SURE I don't want them. My clinical instructor put me in the neonatal unit instead of Labor & Delivery for the first weekend. Probably a good move. I'm a little concerned about the faces I may be making during delivery...that and the vomiting.

I'll let you know how it goes Sunday. I have to be there, changed into their scrubs, and on the floor at 7am. The hospital is a 40 minute drive. I'll be up at the butt-crack of dawn, so that will put me in a great mood to begin with. Hopefully holding those babies will make up for it!

Slacker

I know I haven't been posting lately...sorry. I've been a little stressed out and extremely irritable. School is making me crazy. I'm really unimpressed with the school in general. They're very unfair and we've had a lot of issues with them...some that I don't even think they are legally allowed to do.

My school reminds me a lot of an all-girls private school. A lot of spoiled, bratty girls running around with the maturity of a 15 year old. Its amazing that 30 and 40 year olds can still act this way, talking behind each other's backs and making fun of people. I just can't see these people making good nurses. Doesn't help that the instructors act the same way.

Work is also stressing me out. Things are busy...coworkers are lazy, and with my irritability being so high, I've had a few meltdowns on people :( Maybe it was a good thing, maybe they need to be TOLD how lazy and unproductive they are. I can't believe they're still employed. Do these people have any self-respect? How can you do a job day after day and NOT care how well you do it?

Anyways, we started OB this week. Its early but I'm bored already. Psych was so interesting. I'm trying to pretend that I'm interested, I'm just not. Maybe when I get in there and see the babies I'll change my mind.

So far all that's gone on in class is a lot of people wasting my time telling personal stories about when they were pregnant. I finally raised my hand after about the 4th personal story tonight and asked "Is this going to be on the test"? (I told you I was irritable!). The teacher shot me a look...thank goodness this teacher knows me and likes me, but she got my point and hopefully everyone else did too, actually, a lot of people were like "seriously, save your stories for after class".

I'm going to try and sleep now. I haven't had much luck lately. I get to bed at normal hours, but then I lay awake until 3 and 4 am. Getting up for work has been hard. I think when I broke my tailbone snowboarding last year it caused more damage than I thought. My back has been hurting so badly that when I do finally fall asleep, it wakes me in the middle of the night. It also gives me terrible headaches. I must be nearing 30 things are going downhill already!

I'm done complaining now! Good night!

Matt and I thought the neighbors were fighting...

but turns out it was just an EARTHQUAKE! Around 7:15 last night after listening to the neighbors stomping around above us for a good hour or so, we heard a loud "thud" that sounded like an adult was thrown into a wall. The entire building shook. Matt thought a car had hit the building. That was the end of it. We didn't think twice. Here's the article I found this morning -

CLEVELAND -- A representative from the Golden Colorado Seismic Center confirms there was some type of a small earthquake.

Preliminary reports say the magnitude was 3.6 and the location was 4 miles south of Mantua.

Viewers from Aurora, Brecksville, Brunswick, Chagrin Falls, Hudson, Macedonia,
NORTHFIELD (that's us!!!), North Royalton, Reminderville, Richfield, Silver Lake, Solon, Stow, Streetsboro, Twinsburg, Walton Hills, as well as a number of other cities felt the rumble.

There have been no reports of damage.

YEAH for me!

I just found out that I passed Psych! Did well actually! I sound surprised because the final was hell. A lot of people will NOT be joining me in OB in two weeks. There were a lot of people that failed. I have no idea what went on with the final, it was excruciating.

So, in celebration, a bunch of us our going out tomorrow night. I can't wait. It will be a nice start to Spring Break week. And now that I have my grade, I can relax!

Medicare Coverage...In A Nutshell

The phone rings and the lady of the house answers, "Hello."

"Mrs. Ward, please."

"Speaking."

"Mrs. Ward, this is Doctor Jones at the Medical Testing Laboratory. When your doctor sent your husband's biopsy to the lab yesterday, a biopsy from another Mr. Ward arrived as well, and we are now uncertain which one is your husband's. Frankly the results are either bad or terrible."

"What do you mean?" Mrs. Ward asks nervously.

"Well, one of the specimens tested positive for Alzheimer's, and the other one tested positive for AIDS. We can't tell which is your husband's."

"That's dreadful! Can't you do the test again?" questioned Mrs.Ward.

"Normally we can, but Medicare will only pay for these expensive tests one time."

"Well, what am I supposed to do now?"

"The people at Medicare recommend that you drop your husband off somewhere in the middle of town. If he finds his way home, don't sleep with him."
